OU/EDI's Mentoring Program
The
mentoring program is designed to provide
you a personal mentor who has years
of demonstrated success as an economic
development professional.
This person
will guide you through your OU/EDI
program of study and help prepare you
for success in the profession. Your
mentor is your personal career counselor
and professional resource.
No other institution
or organization in the nation that
offers economic development training
provides this type of service to its
participants. We
are pleased to offer our participants
this unique program.
Some of
the benefits that the mentor can provide
to you include:
- Discuss
and help you structure your program
of study to meet your professional
goals
- Discuss
with you other training, conferences
and activities you should pursue
to better prepare for an ED career
- Help
you understand and provide guidance
on how best to prepare for certification
- Help
you develop effective professional
networks
- Provide
you a person with whom you can discuss
you ideas, projects, challenges within
your community and career decisions.
- Provide
information and resource ideas that
may help you in your work place
- Provide
small group discussions during which
you can exchange your experiences
and challenges with your peers.
Your
mentor will meet with you during each
OU/EDI session and is available through
email or a phone call throughout the
year.
There
is no cost for this program and session
I participants are automatically assigned
a mentor. If you are a session II or
III and would like to have a mentor
assigned, please e-mail us at edi@ou.edu.
